Bernie and Shirley Karstad ate supper with the Monks on Sunday, October 25. Joining them are Br. Pierre and Br. Basil. Bernie and Shirley have spent the summer at the Abbey farm house and will be leaving for their new condo in Saskatoon in early November.

Br. Wolfgang feeds branches into the wood chipper as Fr. Daniel looks on. The monks
are renewing the beauty spot which was an attractive feature at the abbey for many
years. The Spruce hedge was planted in the late 1940s.

Fr. Lawrence DeMong speaks to a parishioner before mass in Leader. Since July he
lives in Leader and is also pastor of Lancer and Liebental.

17. It was built in 1914 by Mr. Smith and it was the biggest barn in North America.
It measured 128 x 400 feet and was 60 feet high. It took 32 carloads of lumber to
build and a carload and a half of nails. The barn was dismantled in 1921.
